On The Map As The Alfred Wainwright Wetherspoon Pub Opens at Haven Lakeland

A new Wetherspoon pub has opened at Haven Lakeland following the successful remodelling of the park’s former Lakeside Bay Restaurant.

Named The Alfred Wainwright, the venue pays tribute to the legendary fell walker who mapped the Lake District’s 214 peaks. It’s a fitting nod for a pub located on the edge of the National Park and certainly makes a great final stop after any countryside walk.

The project forms part of Haven’s ongoing investment to enhance its food and drink offering in partnership with J D Wetherspoon.

Refurbishment delivers increased capacity and improved layout

The completed scheme at Haven Lakeland has significantly increased the venue’s capacity, growing from 212 to 304 internal covers, with a further 140 external seats overlooking the lakeside setting.

Our works included:

  • Full internal reconfiguration

  • Installation of a new bar and backbar

  • New decorations, lighting and flooring installed throughout

The updated layout improves flow and functionality of this large space. The result is a modern, high-quality pub that brings the Wetherspoon experience to the Lake District.

Live environment delivery

The specialist refurbishment was carried out while the park remained fully operational. This needed careful planning to make sure there was minimal disruption to guests throughout the programme.

This project also marks a return to Haven Lakeland for Medlock FRB, following the successful delivery of a multi-area upgrade in 2025

It’s a pleasure to support Haven’s continued investment across their parks here and throughout the UK, including at Kent Coast and Cala Gran in Fleetwood. It’s also not the first time we’ve been up in the Lake District recently, having supported the Lake District Hotels with fantastic upgrades to their Lodore Falls and Inn on the Lake hotels
