Medlock has delivered a £1.7m expansion project at Premier Inn Oldham Central, increasing the hotel's capacity and improving guest facilities as part of Whitbread's multi-million pound investment programme.
Located just a couple of miles from Medlock's own headquarters, this was a special project to deliver.
The development was structured across two phases. Phase one involved the demolition of the former Clayton Green Brewers Fayre restaurant.
Phase two involved the construction of a new two-storey, 35 bedroom annexe, built as a separate timber frame structure with render finish to Premier Inn's latest brand standards. Alongside the annexe, we remodelled four existing bedrooms within the existing hotel to create a brand-new breakfast room.
The new annexe includes a selection of Premier Plus rooms, featuring air conditioning, Ultimate Wi-Fi, king-size beds, coffee machines, mini-fridges, bedside USB ports, rainfall showers and upgraded workspaces.
Air source heat pumps were installed to provide hot water generation throughout the accommodation. External works included new parking provision and soft landscaping around the annexe building.
The 40 week programme required careful coordination to manage demolition, new build construction and internal remodelling works at the same time while the hotel remained fully operational.
The completed new build hotel extension delivers high-quality accommodation that strengthens Premier Inn Oldham Central's attraction and supports Whitbread's continued investment in expanding their estate. This project builds on our growing programme of Premier Inn developments, such as Premier Inn Goole, being delivered across the UK.
