Nando’s, Kilmarnock

Client: Nando’s

Designer: Fusion DNA

Duration: 11 weeks

Value: £565k

Working throughout the Scottish winter, Medlock has successfully transformed a former Tony Macaroni site in Kilmarnock into a stylish new Nando’s restaurant.

It’s a landmark project for all involved - Ayrshire gets its very first Nando’s and we get to mark our first collaboration with the globally recognised restaurant chain.

The comprehensive fit-out created a 145 cover venue, accommodating 117 diners inside and 28 outside. The new venue has also created 40 local jobs.

Our works delivered the brand's distinctive aesthetic throughout, championing their Southern African heritage with detailed ceiling features, geometric wall patterns and stand-out artwork created by South African-based designers. The sleek layout incorporates flexible seating arrangements from smaller tables to spacious booths.

The project required close collaboration with Nando's operational team to coordinate fit-out works across multiple trades and the wider design team, whilst working through challenging conditions. Our experienced team navigated these complexities to deliver a high-quality result that captures the energy and warmth the brand is known for.

We're proud to have delivered this first project for Nando's and look forward to supporting their continued UK expansion in the future.
