Fired Up As Kilmarnock's First Nando's Opens In Ayrshire
Ayrshire has been waiting for this one - and the wait is finally over.
Kilmarnock's first Nando's restaurant has opened its doors, bringing the legendary PERi-PERi chicken to the region for the very first time. For a brand with more than 1,200 restaurants across 30 countries, it's a significant milestone for the local area.
Transforming From Tony Macaroni to Nando's
The new 145 cover venue has transformed a former Tony Macaroni site in Kilmarnock’s Queen’s Drive retail park, creating 40 local jobs in the process.
Inside, 117 diners can enjoy the brand's distinctive Southern African-inspired aesthetic, with detailed ceiling features, geometric wall patterns and artwork from South African-based designers. A further 28 covers are available outside for when the sought-after Scottish sun appears.
The fit-out captures everything that makes Nando's special to people of all ages. The upgrades include flexible seating, smaller tables and spacious booths as well as warm tones and that unmistakable energy the brand is known for to create a brilliant atmosphere when full of diners.
Delivering through the Scottish winter
The project presented its challenges. Working through the Scottish winter whilst coordinating across a large design team and multiple trades required careful planning and close collaboration with Nando's operational team.
Our experienced team navigated these complexities to deliver a high-quality result on schedule, making sure Kilmarnock could welcome its first Nando's ready to open at the start of 2026.
First of many
This marks our first completed project with Nando's - a brilliant partnership we're proud to have established. It's exciting to support a globally recognised brand as they continue their UK expansion, and we look forward to working with the Nando's team again in the future. Now, let’s see those grills well and truly fired up.
