Extension Works Underway At The Manchester College Wythenshawe Campus

Work is underway on a new extension project at The Manchester College's Wythenshawe campus. It’s being delivered for LTE Group as part of their continued investment in high-quality education facilities across Greater Manchester and throughout the UK. 

The project will expand the college's construction and engineering provision, creating modern, purpose-built teaching spaces where students can develop brickwork, construction and key engineering skills.

Large scale, multi-phase delivery

The works are being deliveredacross three distinct, carefully planned phases, designed to keep disruption across campus to a minimum.

Phase 1

The first phase sees the construction of a brand-new brickwork workshop, purpose-designed for construction teaching. 

The steel-framed building, finished with built-up metal cladding, will provide a large open workshop space supported by ancillary rooms off the main area.

Sustainable building services include an air source heat pump for hot water and heating via overhead heating panels, alongside specialist ventilation and dust extraction systems to support a safe learning environment.

Phase 2

The second and third phases of the project both include the remodelling of two existing workshop spaces. 

For phase 2, Block A is being remodelled from a double-height workshop into modern classrooms and an engineering workshop. This will include the installation of a mezzanine floor to make full use of the space. 

Phase 3

The final phase will see Block D reconfigured to provide new classrooms for students and office accommodation for college staff.
