Building The Future As Medlock Welcomes New Apprentice Harry

Thanks to our historically strong partnerships with Oldham College, Burnley College and Tameside College, we proudly welcome new apprentices to Medlock every year.

These aspiring young professionals embark on a journey to master the craft of Architectural Joinery or Site Carpentry, learning directly from our experienced team in the workshop.

We’re delighted to welcome Harry as our latest Workshop Apprentice.

Growing demand for skilled trades

The construction industry plays a vital role in shaping the spaces where we live, learn and connect. As the sector evolves toward modern building methods and sustainable practices, the demand for skilled carpenters and joiners continues to grow.

With potential future skills shortages facing construction, this creates excellent opportunities for young people entering the field, with clear pathways for career progression and job security.

Hands-on learning approach

At Medlock, we see apprenticeships as an exceptional pathway for young people to gain hands-on experience and build a meaningful career in construction.

The combination of college-based learning and workplace experience provides apprentices with a comprehensive understanding of both the theoretical foundations and practical applications of their chosen trade.

Our apprentices don't just observe - they work alongside experienced craftspeople on real projects, developing practical skills and gaining experience across different sectors including hospitality, education and commercial fit-outs.

We wish Harry all the best with his apprenticeship and for a bright future!
