The Hedgeford Lodge, Hednesford

  • Client: J D Wetherspoon PLC
  • Architect: Harrison Ince
  • Duration: 16 weeks

A historic former residence in the Staffordshire town of Hednesford is the latest landmark property to be converted into a new J D Wetherspoon pub.  The Hedgeford Lodge occupies a prime position in the town centre and is a Listed building dating back to 1831.

Medlock’s scope of works included the careful strip-out of the interior space before structural openings were formed to create a new internal lay-out. An extension was added to the entrance area while major improvements were made to the building’s roof, cellar and delivery yard.

The interior design is respectful of the building’s heritage with the retention of original ornate plasterwork, veneered wall-panelling and feature window shutters. Artwork by local patrons enhance the individual nature of the venue for which the J D Wetherspoon brand is renowned.

Medlock completed the project in 16 weeks.
