A taste of Ibiza coming to ManchesterNovember 2017

Medlock has been awarded the contract to deliver the latest concept by MAD Group, famous for some of Manchester’s most well-known bars such as Hula, Walrus and Tusk. Following a 10-week fit-out, the Ibiza-style bar will be opening in Manchester’s top leisure destination The Printworks. With a capacity of 800 people, Lazy Lizard will be a premium destination offering something new to the city's late-night scene.

Medlock has recently completed a series of refurbishments for leading pub operator and brewer, Greene King. A total of five former Fayre & Square pub restaurants have been given a fresh-look, each within a tight timescale of less than three weeks. The Waterside in Warrington, the Caldecott Arms in Milton Keynes and the Broadway in Short Heath have all been rebranded, while two venues in Rotherham, the Sir Jack and the Marquis have also benefitted from major investments.

After a timescale of just 20 weeks, Medlock has completed the brand new adoption centre at Manchester Dogs Home, marking the final phase of development for the home following severe fire damage in 2014. The all-new facility not only offers a great design but 32 spacious temperature controlled kennels, a large central atrium, office accommodation and reception area.

Medlock has completed the contract to refurbish The Old Swanne Inn in the Cotswold market town of Evesham, for much-loved pub chain J D Wetherspoon. The 5-week project has seen the popular town centre pub undergo a modernisation both internally and externally.

Medlock has completed the fit-out of a 25,000 sq ft shell unit at Cheltenham's Brewery Quarters leisure and retail centre. Mr Mulligans Lost World of Golf promises plenty of laughs and thrills for those hoping to get a hole in one as they take on the challenge of the 36-hole course. The venue showcases the latest generation model with three branded zones, underwater, temple and jungle, along with 'The Club', a new 140-cover restaurant and bar.

The latest Farmhouse Inn at Ellesmere Port will be the 20th new-build Medlock has completed for national brewer and pub operator, Greene King. The family-friendly pub/restaurant will be constructed and fit-out in a timescale of just 25 weeks at Rossfield Park, a residential development near to Ellesmere Port.

Following recently competed fit-out projects in Bedford and Chester, Medlock has been awarded its first-ever new-build Miller & Carter, the premium steakhouse concept from Mitchells & Butlers. Located in the leafy Tyneside suburb of Gosforth, the project will be on site for 22 weeks and follows the award of another shell fit-out which has just started at the £30m Bell Court retail and leisure development in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Medlock has completed the fit-out work to the Equestrian Centre at Aintree Racecourse, home of the Grand National. The brand new cafeteria and lounge offers spectator views across the centre through large full-height windows overlooking the arena below. The Medlock team has won two new projects to convert and fit-out Greene King pub/restaurants. Allerton Hall in Liverpool and The Wheatsheaf in Woolsington, near Newcastle-upon-Tyne, will be re-branded into the latest family-friendly Farmhouse Inn concept. Both projects will be completed within a 10-week timescale.

Medlock has been awarded a new contract to extend the Premier Inn, Stockport South with a total of 24 new bedrooms being bolted on to the existing hotel. The 26-week project will also include alterations to the existing reception area and lobby.

Following the successful rebuild of Hickory's at Wall Heath, Medlock has started a second Hickory's smokehouse restaurant, this time in Southport. The 16 week project involves building a new extension to an existing pub shell and the full implementation of the Hickory's template of Deep South American style.

A major investment is being made into the facilities at one of the UK's foremost tennis and fitness clubs. Over a 14 week period, Medlock will carry out significant refurbishments to various parts of the club including upgrades of the swimming pool, spa, changing rooms, gym, reception and the Hub cafe bar. The works will be phased to allow the club to remain open for its 2800 members.

Originally built in 1913, the Phoenix Picturehouse, Oxford was the first cinema in the Picturehouse group of 21 cinemas before being acquired by Cineworld in 2012. Medlock has been appointed to breathe new life into this grand old building over a 6 week contract period.

The Ember Lounge has been given a sparkling makeover in time for the new term at Staffordshire University. Medlock were on site for 5 weeks making changes to the bar and lounge area which will provide a comfortable environment for students to relax, unwind and enjoy university life.

Excellent Progress with Premier InnAugust 2017

With 3 new-build Premier Inn hotels currently on site, we are making steady progress and on track to hand over by the beginning of 2018. With the shells nearing completion, the teams are ready to start the internal fit-out and external landscaping. With a total of 231 bedrooms and two integrated Brewers Fayre pubs, the new Premier Inns are coming to Ulverston, Bridlington and Rhyl.

The task of rebuilding the Hickory's Smokehouse in Wall Heath has been completed from start to finish in 26 weeks. The original venue had to be demolished due to a fire but the all new steel-framed, thatched roofed American barbeque restaurant is now open again complete with cinema room, sports bar and outdoor ping-pong. One of the first hotels ever built in the Lake District has undergone substantial investment. Medlock's team were on hand to add a touch of luxury to bedrooms at The Hydro Hotel in Bowness-on-Windermere, an elegant Victorian hotel with views over Lake Windermere.

Medlock has won a first cinema fit-out project for a leading independent operator REEL Cinemas. The complete internal refurbishment will be carried out in three phases over a 16 week contract period while some screens remain in operation. The project will be completed in mid-August.

Following the recent award of the Premier Inn in Ulverston, Medlock has been awarded two new contracts to build Premier Inns at popular seaside resorts. In North Wales 70 bedrooms will be built in Rhyl, whilst 82 bedrooms will be constructed in the North Yorkshire town of Bridlington. Both projects will be completed early next year.

Medlock have completed another pub refurbishment for Enterprise Inns in Bloxwich on the outskirts of Walsall. The Sir Robert Peel is a traditional local pub and will be operated by Davenports Brewery of Smethwick. The refurbishment was carried out in 4 weeks.

Manchester’s first US-style diner has been created in the Northern Quarter. The 1950’s retro design features raspberry pink booth seating, vintage car number plate wall cladding and a collection of authentic memorabilia. The lavish all-American interior was fitted-out by Medlock in just 9 weeks.

Medlock have landed the contract to build a Farmhouse Inn next to the AJ Bell Stadium, home of Sale Sharks and Salford Red Devils. Medlock have started a new project for Greene King PLC. The new-build pub/restaurant is situated at Phoenix Riverside, a five-acre office park development in Rotherham near junction 34 of the M1. The scheme will open in August 2015. The contract follows the handover of The Hardy Pick in Sheffield, a Hungry Horse venue built on the site of the former Hardy Patent Pick Company.

Medlock are delighted to have secured the contract to remodel The Greyhound in the Cheshire village of Ashley for leading North West brewer and pub operator J W Lees. The project will run for 10 weeks and the pub is due to re-open in early May.

One of the oldest pubs in Manchester is to be refurbished by Medlock.  Dating back to 1793, the Crown & Anchor benefits from a prime city centre location on Shambles Square, and is popular with trade from city workers, shoppers and evening revellers. The investment by Joseph Holt will see the remodelled pub open in March after a six week project.

Leading Manchester brewer and pub operating company J W Lees have entrusted Medlock to manage improvements to the famous Greengate Brewery in Middleton.  The 6 week project involves the removal of the existing boiler house roof and brick chimney and the installation of new cladding to the side elevation and a new 19m high flue.

Following the opening of the Picture House in Morley, Medlock have made a start on site in the Staffordshire town of Hednesford.  This is the third major project for J D Wetherspoon and involves the conversion and extension of Anglesey Lodge, a Grade 2 Listed former residence and hotel dating back to 1831.  The new pub will open in April 2015.

Medlock have been chosen to extend two Premier Inns for leading hotel provider Whitbread PLC.  The hotels at Stafford North and Leeds/Bradford Airport will benefit from extensions of 30 and 18 bedrooms respectively to the existing properties as the demand for the branded hotels continues.  Both projects will handover in February 2015.

One of the oldest buildings in Wavertree has undergone a substantial investment from pub operator Trust Inns.  Dating back to 1776, the ‘Coffee House’ is a historic property, formerly a hotel, now a thriving local pub.  Medlock completed the refurbishment over a 3 week contract period.

The hugeley successful Hungry Horse pub format has opened on Kingsway Village Centre, a regeneration site in Rochdale, the third new build project to be delivered by Medlock for our client Greene King.  Several of our office and workshop staff accepted the kind invitation to attend the soft opening nights with Gary and his new staff at The Hornet. Medlock have completed the conversion of a former Burger King into a Millie's Cookies retail bakery at Bourne Leisure's holiday park in Porthmadog, North Wales.  As the name suggests Millies cookies specialise in cookies, muffins, hot drinks and gifts.

Excellent progress is being made in respect of the re-building of the former Panacea Restaurant and Nightclub in Alderley Edge. The roof construction is now complete and the new shell will be handed over in March.

Medlock completed the fit out of its third William Hill betting shop, on programme just before Christmas. Two former shop units were re-configured to create a state-of-the-art betting shop in a contract period of 5 weeks.

Originally built in 1443; this historic village pub is being completely transformed by Medlock on behalf of Manchester family Brewers, Hyde’s.

Medlock have completed the refurbishment of this historic Tudor pub dating back to 1634 for our Client, Punch Taverns. Modernising work included the re-thatching of the roof and alterations to the interior of the timber-framed pub over a period of 7 weeks.

Medlock have been awarded a further two projects for national pub operator Punch Taverns. The historic Ye Olde Black Bear in Sandbach and Bradley’s in Hamilton will undergo substantial refurbishments over the next few weeks, to follow on from recent projects at The Beehive in Thorner near Leeds and The Grapes in Oldham which were completed this month.

Following on from the investment at The Jolly Thresher in Lymm, North West regional brewer Hydes have entrusted Medlock with the refurbishment of this popular local pub which will re-open in time for the May Bank holiday. 

New Dental Surgery – Bangor.April 2013

Medlock are pleased to announce a first contract win for new client, Integrated Dental Holdings (IDH), the UK’s largest dental company with a network of over 500 dental practices across the country. The fit-out of a developers shell in Bangor, North Wales commenced on site on April 15th and will run for 7 weeks. 

The Birches Head – Stoke-on-Trent.April 2013

A major investment to completely refurbish the Birches Head in Hanley has been successfully delivered by Medlock in a 6 week contract period.

The White Horse – Chester Racecourse.April 2013

In partnership with Style Contracts, part of Style Matters, the leading furniture solutions provider to the leisure industry. Medlock carried out the interior fit-out of this family-orientated gastropub situated in the centre of Chester Racecourse.

Hungry Horse – Cheshire Oaks.April 2013

The national roll out of the popular Hungry Horse brand continues with the conversion of a 6000ft former restaurant unit at Cheshire Oaks retail outlet near Ellesmere Port. Medlock’s programme of works started on April 8th and will run for 8 weeks. 

Craig Tara holiday Park – Mash & Barrel opens it’s doors to holidaymakers.March 2013

The 16 week project to extend and refurbish the Mash & Barrel restaurant and bar was successfully handed over on time on the March 8th 2013, to welcome back owners and holiday makers to the all-action, fun filed holiday destination on the Ayrshire coastline. The Old Queens Head – Oldest Pub in Sheffield refurbished.March 2013

A building steeped in history, with the timber frame dating back to 1475, Grade 2 listed Old Queens Head has been carefully upgraded by Medlock over a 3 week period for leading regional brewer Daniel Thwaites Plc.

Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport.March 2013

As an approved contractor for the North West Consortium of National Health Trusts, Medlock has carried out operating theatre upgrades at Stepping Hill Hospital on behalf of the estates department of the Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. The work was carried out at weekends to allow medical operations to continue during the week.

Jolly Thresher, Lymm- Open after major refurbishment.February 2013

The re-development of Hydes brewery’s  Jolly Thresher in Lymm is complete with a new dining room extension and fantastic al fresco drinking area ready for those long Summer days. A full refurbishment of the existing pub has transformed this popular countryside destination ( more details can be viewed in the recent projects section).

New Project at Craig Tara Holiday Park.February 2013

A new project to refurbish the swimming pool changing rooms at Craig Tara has commenced on site. This is in addition to the major extension of the Mash & Barrel restaurant which is due to handover on March 8th at the popular Ayrshire resort.

After the timely completions of the Foresters Arms in Telford and the Nags Head near Ashbourne, Medlock are working hard to finish The Posada Inn in Wolverhampton and The Swan with Two Necks in Rugeley for valued client Punch Taverns.
A new contract starts at The Golden Eagle, Chester which is scheduled for mid-February.

Hungry Horse, Wallsend.February 2013

Following the Sword Dancer in Sheffield, Medlock are delighted to be awarded another new-build Hungry Horse project. Situated on the North Bank of the River Tyne at Wallsend, the project starts on February 25th and will run for 24 weeks.

Medlock are pleased to announce the commencement of a 5 week refurbishment of The Jolly Thresher at Lymm for local brewer and pub operator Hydes Brewery. Work started on Jan 3rd and the Medlock team are delighted to be part of this exciting re-development of this popular Cheshire pub restaurant.

Following the pre-Christmas handover of the flood damaged ‘Bar Place’ in Hebden Bridge, Medlock have started on site at the Brewery Tavern on our doorstep here in Oldham, for national pub company Admiral Taverns.

The 5 week transformation of an existing restaurant to create The Shalimar in Wilmslow is complete with the uniquely designed Pan Asian restaurant open to the public from December 6th 2012.

Craig Tara Holiday Park.November 2012

Medlock have won their first project for a new client, Bourne Leisure who operate three of the most successful holiday brands in the UK, Haven Holidays, Warner Leisure Hotels and Butlins. 
Medlock start on site on November 19th for a 16 week contract to extend and refurbish the Mash & Barrell Lounge Cafe Bar at Craig Tara Holiday Park, on the West Coast of Scotland close to Ayr.

Medlock commenced on site on October 24th to create a new restaurant over a 5 week contract period for an independent owner who we have worked for previously. The £200k project will be handed-over at the end of November. 

Sword Dancer, Sheffield.October 2012

Named after the birth place of Traditional Sword Dancing in the 19th Century, this is the first new build Hungry Horse Public House to be built by Medlock for its Client, Greene King.
Despite working through one of the wettest summers on record the project handed over on programme to the delight of the project team.

The conversion of a Grade 2 listed building into bedroom accommodation has been handed over at the National Sports centre. The project was completed on time to the delight of out client.

The transformation of a popular community public house has been successfully completed for popular local brewer J.W. Lees & Co. The £400k contract was delivered in 7 weeks. Initial reports are that the ‘new’ Urmston is trading fantastically well.

Medlock have followed the recent Lytham project with another successful project to upgrade the UK’s most popular pizzeria in a 2 week contract period in the Roundhay district of Leeds.

Medlock have successfully completed three upgrades for national pub operator Punch Taverns. The Ridgeway at Blackrod, The Parkside at Prestwich and The Old Fort in Liverpool all benefited from a capital investment of circa £200k.

Marine Point is a new Multi-Leisure complex at the tip of the Wirral peninsular across the water from Liverpool. Medlock fitted out the developers shell to create a Hungry Horse pub/restaurant for client Greene King.

Medlock have successfully completed the 3 week refurbishment of the brassiere at the Alderley Edge Hotel on behalf of local independent family brewer J.W.Lees & Co.

Medlock are delighted to announce the award of a contract for major alterations and internal refurbishment for local family brewer J.W.Lees & co. 
The revamped pub will be open to the public on the 24th August.

Medlock are pleased to announce the award of a prestigious project to transform a part of the Grade 2 listed Lilleshall Hall into bedroom accommodation at the National Sports Centre. The £300k project is due for completion in September.

Medlock are pleased to announce the award of a new build public house for Greene King Plc. The £1.05 million project will be a Hungry Horse brand and is located at Turners Mill, Sheffield. With a contract period of 24 weeks, built traditionally with a branded fit out.

Aysgarth Falls HotelMay 2012

Medlock’s complete renovation of the Aysgarth Falls Hotel was completed in April for new owners Steve & Heather Swann. Eleven individually designed boutique rooms and the whole of the restaurant and bar areas were completely upgraded in line with the concept of the North East based designer, Space I.D. Medlock have recently completed a wonderful transformation, having converted an existing retail unit and basement into a contemporary Italian eatery. Once Medlock had negotiated the contract the team worked tirelessly with the Client and Designer to develop a strong and open working relationship generating understanding and effective decision making to ensure full delivery of the Clients expectations within the budget and timescale.

Medlock have completed their first refurbishment project for new Client Trust Inns. This was a great opportunity to demonstrate Medlock’s expertise in this type of fast-track project, not only on site but from our in-house joinery manufacturing facility which provided all the bespoke joinery.

With Medlock’s continued performance and recent success working for Greene King on The Moorfield (formerly The Sale Hotel), Medlock where delighted to win another high profile scheme, The Fernhurst in Blackburn. Working closely with the designer JDA and Greene King the 330k budget was met achieving the 7wk programme deadline.

Medlock are pleased to announce the award of the contract to refurbish The Alderley Edge Hotel for J W Lees. Working with Mark Mason Design we look forward to completing the contemporary stylish concept adopted for this site. Pictures will appear on our web-site.

The Moorfield – SaleApril 2012

Medlock have completed the refurbishment of The Sale Hotel a grade II listed building. The Client, Greene King are so delighted with the outcome that the site has been re-branded and renamed ‘The Moorfield’ and sits as a flagship site.
Not only was the bar, restaurant and kitchen refurbished but also the living accommodation over three floors. In addition all externals where made good and updated including an extended patio area and resurfacing of the car park.
The tight 14wk programme was achieved and additional works completed within the deadline date such is the focus to Client needs.

The Aysgarth Falls Hotel – AysgarthJanuary 2012

Medlock have won the refurbishment and fit-out of the existing hotel at Aysgarth Falls for Steve and Heather Swann. 11no bedrooms, the restaurant and bar areas will undergo complete re-design in line with the concept developed by Space ID. The project has a ten week programme with completion in April.
